This essay made me think about how bad some people have it. Dick Gregory talks about him when he was a child, and he had a crush on this girl in school named Helene Tucker. By the looks of it he would give the world to her if he could.
However, this feeling of innocence was replaced by shame when his teacher pointed out to his classmates that he was poor, and living without a father. For the first time in his life, Gregory felt ashamed. Gregory found motivation in despite the shame he felt while he was in class.
